Soup Start-Up Challenge

What to Expect

What it is:

The Soup Start-Up Challenge is a fast-paced team competition taking place over a 24 hour period.  Think of it as a combination of The Amazing Race, Shark Tank, The Apprentice, and Fear Factor.  Students will join the competition as individuals and then form teams, constantly on the move or feverishly working on their ideation and presentations.  There is $1500 in prize money available and also chances to network with senior leaders at Campbell Soup.

Beginning at 11:30AM on Saturday, the students are presented with a challenge, teams formed, and then are sent off to brainstorm.  From there, the students must develop ideas around key questions that are creative yet business focused that our consumer would love and produce a business pitch using your choice of Multi-Media format… all in just 24 hours!

The product the challenge is focused around is a Sustainable Food product – but this challenge doesn’t involve cooking or making food so don’t let that stop you from participating.

The teams will be able to check in along the way, they need to share their progress to various mentors to help them shape and improve their ideas or stretch their thinking.  Starting at noon on Sunday teams will present their ideas and pitch to Senior Leaders from The Greenhouse & Campbell Soup Co.  Presentations and judging will be completed by approximately 1:30PM.

What it’s not (for students):

The Soup Start-Up Challenge is not your standard classroom experience or what you may be used to in other competitions.  It is an opportunity for your imagination, creativity, and entrepreneurial mind to shine.  We want you to use your imagination and have fun, while challenging yourself to apply the concepts of brainstorming, marketing, and presenting to clients.

What it’s not (for judges):

The Soup Start-Up Challenge is focused on imagination and thinking outside-the-box.  Although we do ask students to create an executive level business pitch, this is NOT a typical business plan competition.  You won’t hear in-depth market analysis, or a financial statement projecting the next five years.  You will be judging students on the feasibility of their idea, creativity, and whether or not it could prosper in the marketplace.  We are looking for imagination, innovation, and fun!
