Connnected to Anaplan

This morning Villanova in the Valley visited Anaplan, a cloud based planning platform that connects data, people, and can plan every part of a business. The privately held company was founded by Michael Gould in a small barn in York, England in 2006.

Anaplan offers services in finance, sales, supply chain, marketing, information technology, and human resources. The company helps provide solutions to the business challenges customers are facing. Early on, Anaplan’s work with Hewlett-Packard (HP) launched the company to the next level. Other notable customers have been United Airlines, Del Monte, PwC, Pandora, and many more.

We were able to reconnect and hear from Villanova alumnus, Paul Melchiorre, Anaplan’s Chief Revenue Officer. With 30 years of experience, he shared his impressive story and how he came to Anaplan. We also learned about the culture differences between the East Coast and West Coast and in particular, within the working environment of Silicon Valley.

We were also able to hear from Simon Tucker, the Chief Customer Officer and one of the first employees at Anaplan. Mr. Tucker told us the story of how Anaplan grew from a startup to a company leading its industry. Having seen the company grow to a larger scale, of about 1,000 employees, Mr. Tucker also touched on how growth challenged Anaplan’s business structure and culture.

Overall, the visit was a great start to the morning. We reconnected and learned from the leaders of Anaplan; a company that has defined a new way of connected planning.
