Let’s Go Giants!

During today’s visit to the San Francisco Giants, we visited with Danny Dann, who is the Vice President of Marketing and Advertising with the San Francisco Giants.  Mr. Dann received his Bachelor’s of Science in communications with a concentration in tv/video production from Ithaca College in 1990. Mr. Dann is in charge of overseeing the service side of all sponsor related commitments and promotional activity. Manage event activation for special ticketed events held at the ballpark. and promotional activity and manages event activation for special ticketed events held at the ballpark.

The San Francisco Giants are a professional Baseball team in Major League Baseball playing out of AT&T Park in the National League West division.  They are a B2C company that develops interactive community projects, state of the art facilities and ball parks to go along with candid experiences through their baseball team they put out on the field.  Mr. Dann made it a point to tell us about his journey and how he came to get to the San Francisco Giants.  He was going to go to grad school but when he called his advisor, his advisor suggested he take the job with the minor league team because people graduating from the graduate school Mr. Dann was set to attend wanted the job that Mr. Dann was already being offered. Mr. Dan started his career working with the phoenix firebirds as the director of tickets, operations, merchandise and team travel (92’-94’).  In 1996 he became the sponsorship Sales coordinator and his primary responsibility was selling and servicing corporate sponsorships. He continued working in various roles with the giants from 1996 to 2016 when he earned his current position title of vice president of marketing and advertising

Mr. Dann took our Villanova in the Valley cohort on a tour of the stadium and facilities.  We had opportunities to ask questions and hear about what plans are in store for the Giants in the future.  Mr. Dann took our group around private suites, club rooms, announcer rooms, as well as even down onto the field and into the dugouts and locker rooms of the teams that play there.   Mr. Dann gave us an insight into his background and the history of the stadium, including how the Giants try to make the stadium a place where people want to come for an outing even if they are not baseball fans necessarily.  Although the Giants did not have the best season on the field during 2017, management and the corporate entity, in particular Danny Dann, are actively trying to further renovations of the stadium and develop interactive opportunities for fans and entice them even more so to come to the games and the park.

Mr. Dann was extremely informative for our group and receptive to questions.  The trip to the San Francisco Giants was one of the group favorites because of the atmosphere, scenery, and knowledge gained during the visit.  I strongly endorse the San Francisco Giants and they organization’s ability to continue setting the bar for stadiums in Major League Baseball.  The San Francisco Giants hold the record for longest sellout streak in major league history and that is no surprise considering the quality of the stadium and people who work behind the scenes to make it incredible.  Next year’s edition of the Villanova in the Valley program will be lucky to return to visit with the San Francisco Giants.
