Teaching and Learning IdeaBounce®

Following the success of the Research IdeaBounce®, the ICE Institute partnered with the Office of the Associate Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning to further expand the scope of the IdeaBounce® to include coursework. Specifically, Villanova students, faculty, and staff gave elevator pitches on different course ideas, areas for interdisciplinary collaborations, and potential majors, minors, and programs. The event brought together people with backgrounds in real estate, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, sociology, ethics, education, philosophy, communication, mathematics, and marketing.

Proposals included a minor in meteorology, a clinical emersion program for engineers, a certification for the Built Environment, a multidisciplinary course on Social Network Analysis, and a class examining the possible distinction between religious freedom and discrimination. By fostering collaboration among Villanovans from diverse backgrounds, the Teaching and Learning IdeaBounce® will present continued opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to create a unique academic atmosphere that utilizes an interdisciplinary perspective to examine important topics.
