Big Friday in the Idea Accelerator

Last Friday 4/7, the Idea Accelerator hosted a packed schedule of events! Students and faculty members from a variety of disciplines, as well as other Villanova community members attended in strong numbers to learn about law and computer coding.

First up, the Villanova Law School took to the scene to inform aspiring entrepreneurs about intellectual property law. The workshop was one of several events hosted by Villanova Law School’s Clinic for Law and Entrepreneurship during the past two weeks. The Clinic for Law and Entrepreneurship provides free legal services to entrepreneurs, small businesses, and social ventures through the work of closely supervised upper level law students. Their Spring Workshop Series included an array of one-hour workshops on legal topics important to every entrepreneur. Choosing an Entity for your Business, Intellectual Property Basics, and Intro to Employment Matters. The series concluded Friday afternoon with the presentation discussing the “do-s and the don’t-s” of employment matters. The Clinic for Law and Entrepreneurship is currently accepting applications for their next client cohort – apply by August 2017. For more information, email

Later in the afternoon, Cookies, Cupcakes and Coding packed the Idea Accelerator with dozens of business, engineering, and computer science students eager to learn about Excel Macros. Very simply, macros is a means of automating repetitive excel tasks, but, with programming techniques, macros can automate just about anything! Cookies, Cupcakes and Coding is hosted throughout the semester by the VU Women in Tech group. Students from across all schools are welcomed to attend these interactive coding seminars, and to enjoy sweets from a selection of cookies and cupcakes while doing so!To learn more about Cookies, Cupcakes and Coding and VU Women in Tech, email
