Office of Planned Giving and ICE Kick Off Business Succession and Exit Planning Initiative

2016-06-09 20.19.20The ICE Institute hosted the launch of a new Business Succession and Exit Planning Initiative — a collaboration between ICE and Villanova’s Office of Planned Giving. The event was sponsored by Brown Brothers Harriman, and attended by a diverse group of Villanova alumni business owners representing family-owned businesses, publically traded companies, and new ventures.

Jeff Bodle, partner at Morgan Lewis and ICE Advisory board member, moderated a panel of professional advisors, including Joe Chott, vice president at Brown Brothers; Michael P. Gallagher, partner at Pepper Hamilton; and David Reed, director at Fairmount Partners.  The advisors gave an overview of the exit process, and talked about the need to plan early; consider wealth and financial planning; and how to avoid common mistakes.

A second panel discussion consisting of business owners was moderated by II Luscri, ICE executive director.  VUAA board president, Terry Delaney, along with Tom Gravina of GPX Enterprises, L.P., Jane Hollingsworth of Militia Hill Ventures, and Jack Surgent of GMS Surgent, offered their personal experiences and advice to the audience. Each panelist brought a unique perspective to the event, which resonated with those in attendance.

Moving forward, the Initiative will dive deeper into the topics that were discussed at the event through events, webinars, white papers, and timely communications about a variety of topics related to business succession and exit planning.

Video highlights of the event will be posted soon. For additional information, contact II Luscri or Steve Grourke, executive director of planned giving.
