ICE Student Perspective on the Shop.org Student Conference

Every year the National Retail Federation (NRF) puts on a digital summit for digital retailers and digital commerce companies. This year, Philadelphia hosted the Shop.org 2015 conference in the Philadelphia convention center. I was lucky enough to attend the student program on the first day of the weeklong conference. The student program involved over 350 college students from around the United States. The one-day program included a multitude of guest speaker and other engaging activities to meet some of the more relevant consumer brands in the industry. Some of these companies included were Under Armor, Lily Pulitzer, Warby Parker, Facebook, Nordstrom, Target and many others.

The program had presentations on the latest digital transaction trends and applications and different panel discussions about retail/online ecommerce. The program included a 2-hour mentor experience where the students had time to meet the executives and representatives of these companies on an individual basis. In these discussions the mentors talked about how their companies are attacking the digital frontier and the processes they are implemented to become more competitive in the market. Included in the day was a presentation for the Ray Greenly Scholarship, for those who are pursing a degree in digital retail. For a full recap about the presenters, click here for more information. The program ended with an exclusive career fair with all the companies that presented and more. For those interested in this career and field, they were targeting students in the conference for summer internships and full time employment.
