Dr. Pankaj Patel Joins Villanova as Ryan Innovation Chair

Villanova is pleased to welcome Dr. Pankaj Patel to the newly created position of Ryan Innovation Chair. Dr. Patel comes to Villanova after receiving his PhD in Entrepreneurship from Louisville University and teaching at Ball State University, a school nationally known for its emphasis on entrepreneurship in business.

In his new role, Dr. Patel is eager to use his knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovation to help the university from a research and a pedagogical standpoint. Specifically, he is interested in the possibility of introducing new classes such as design thinking that will help establish a middle ground between engineering and business. Through such classes, he hopes to discover a better manner of translating entrepreneurial skills and knowledge to students who would not normally identify themselves as entrepreneurs. Furthermore, he believes that Villanova has a lot of potential to grow in the area of social entrepreneurship, because it is a niche market that fits well with the school’s Augustinian principles and interests of the student body. Lastly, Dr. Patel is excited about the various outreach opportunities with the ICE Institute and the Idea Accelerator to bring in students and community members to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation.
