tedxOn Friday, November 22, 2013, Driscoll Hall hosted Villanova University’s second TEDx event, TEDxVillanovaU: Create, Innovate, Inspire. The event consisted of a series of short talks, demonstrations and performances on a variety of topics to inspire the audience and provoke conversations that matter. Some of the topics included theatre life beyond the stage, sustainability, inclusion, innovation and the preservation of imagination amidst technology. Speakers included a variety of members from the Villanova community including faculty, alumni, and graduate and undergraduate students.

During the breaks between sessions, the members of the audience, composed of students, faculty, staff and alumni, were able to generate great conversations, leaving them inspired and ready to take action. Between breaks there were also performances from student groups such as Vocal Minority, Nothing But Treble, the Irish Dance Club and Ablaze.

TedxVillanovaU captured the spirit of TED itself: cross-disciplinary, focused on the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately the world. The event encompassed great enthusiasm, passion and energy from everyone involved!

The speaker’s talks were incredible! Both the speakers and the performers accurately demonstrated the theme to “Create, Innovate, Inspire” and left me ready to take action,” said sophomore, biology major, Kara Hunt.
