Getting Involved in the Philly Startup Scene

There is a lot going on in and around Philly. If you want to get involved with a start up, there are plenty of opportunities if you know how to find them. Unlike finding roles within larger companies, many start ups hire based solely on networking. Several months ago I attended an event hosted by the Philly Tech Meetup group, at the University Science Center’s Quorum, which lead to a fantastic opportunity to join a very exciting Startup.

Check out StartupDigest, and subscribe to the email notifications for Philadelphia.  Every week they will send out a list of start up related events in the city and you can choose which ones to attend.  It’s a great way to meet people, understand who’s who, decide if a start up is right for you – or to find business partners and launch your own venture.  The bottom line is that you have to get out there and talk to people to get involved. Share your intention to learn, and people will listen.
